Sailors of the Week, Weekend 11, Spring 2015


***Landry, Gaumond, and Belling  are the NEISA Sailors of the Week***

New Haven, CT—4/20/15-Graham Landy ’15 with crews Katherine Gaumond ’15 and Charlotte Belling ’16 of the Yale Bulldogs are the NEISA Sailors of the Week after helping their team win the Owen, Mosbacher, and Knapp Trophies for the fourth year in a row. Dominating A division, Landy, Gaumond, and Belling faced variable conditions and managed to win 8 of the 12 races sailed.  The A-division team from Yale never finished worse than fifth. 

***Baab and Carter are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week***

Boston, MA—4/20/15-Lindsey Baab ’18 and  Haley Carter ‘17 of Brown University  are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week after sailing to victory in B division at the President’s Trophy hosted by Boston University.  The pair finished in the top 3 in 8 of 12 races sailed, helping Brown to fourth overall.  

Around the Conference

It was a very busy weekend around New England. Top ranked Yale won the 3 division Thompson Trophy. Yale also won the Women’s Presidents Trophy. At the 3 division Oberg Trophy, hosted by Northeastern University at MIT, Roger Williams University finished first.  MIT won both divisions at the Savin Hill Invite.  Johnson and Wales won the Southern Series at URI.

This coming weekend is the Women’s qualifier for Nationals with the top 8 teams earning berths to the Women’s Semifinals in Newport May 25-26, 2015.
