Sailors of the Week, Weekend 6, Spring 2015


***Landy ’15, Gaumond ’15, and Champa ‘18 are the NEISA COED Sailors of the Week***

St. Mary’s City, MD—3/15/15-Graham Landy ’15 along with Katherine Gaumond ’15 and Christopher Champa ‘18 are the NEISA Coed Sailors of the Week for helping the Yale Bulldogs win the St. Mary’s College Team Race. With a 13-1 record, the Bulldogs showed again that they could handle the competition in a variety of conditions. Light winds, rain, and fog prevailed on Saturday and heavy winds dominated the race course on Sunday.  

*** List ’18 and Israel ’15 are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week***

Annapolis, MD—3/15/15- After a breakout performance at the Navy Women’s Spring Interconference Regatta,  Charlotte List ’18 and Alix Israel ’15 of Connecticut College are the NEISA Women’s Sailors of the Week. List and Israel had the highest New England finish in B division, locking up 3rd place after 4 races on Saturday. They fell just one point shy of winning B division. Racing was cancelled on Sunday due to excessively high winds in Annapolis. Connecticut College finished 8th overall. This was the best finish at an interconference regatta of the year for the pair.

Around the Conference—

At the John Jackson Memorial Team Race hosted by Georgetown University, the Coast Guard Academy and MIT both finished with an 8-6 record. Coast Guard won the tie breaker. Massachusetts Maritime, Maine Maritime, and the Coast Guard Academy traveled west for the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup hosted by California Maritime in Catalina 37s. Massachusetts Maritime was the top New England finisher, taking 5th overall. At the Eckerd Interconference Regatta in St. Petersburg, FL, the Salve Regina Seahawks finished 6th. NEISA looks to open racing in New England this weekend.
