2024 Open and Women’s Fleet Race National Championship Fields Are Set

The selections have been made for the College Sailing Open and Women's Fleet Race National Championships. The Fleet Race Nationals schedule is as follows:

  • Women's Fleet Race National Championship: May 20-23
    • Semi-Finals: May 20-21
    • Finals: May 22-23
  • Open Fleet Race National Championship: May 24-27
    • Semi-Finals: May 24-25
    • Finals: May 26-27

Stanford University Wins 2024 Women’s Team Race National Championship

Following two days of exhilarating competition on the waters of the Charles River, Stanford University took first in the College Sailing Women’s Team Race National Championship, graciously hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. This triumph marks a remarkable ascent for the Cardinals, who secured second place in the 2023 edition of the Women’s Team Race Nationals.

Roger Williams University Soars to Open Team Race National Championship

After three days of racing on the Charles River, the Roger Williams University Hawks took first place in the College Sailing Open Team Race National Championship hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. The final day of the Championship delivered more challenging conditions while waiting for the sea breeze to be established. Tension peaked when a redress was filed after the last race of the day, leading sailors and coaches to anxiously await the verdict that would potentially determine the National Champions.

College Team Race Nationals Hit Boston April 25th

The Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) is thrilled to announce the commencement of its highly anticipated Spring National Championships, set to unfold starting April 25th 2024. The prestigious event will kick off with the College Sailing Open Team Race National Championships, showcasing the finest talents in collegiate sailing. Hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University, this year's championship promises an exhilarating display of skill and competition.


Racing continued today on the Elizabeth River out of the Old Dominion Sailing Center in the second day of the Sperry Women’s Semifinals. Thirty-six collegiate sailing teams from across the nation qualified to compete in these Semifinals to determine the top 18 teams who will advance to the Finals, which begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. The 36 teams are divided into two fleets of 18 teams, Western and Eastern Semifinal groups, the top nine from each fleet will make up the 18 teams who compete in the final championship.

Today the Eastern and Western fleets sailed in FJs and Z420s on windward leeward courses with four legs. B-division completed six races today and A-division completed 4 for a total of 12 races for the regatta in both divisions and fleets.




The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) honored four individuals for their contributions to the sport of college sailing by inducting them into the ICSA Hall of Fame at today’s annual ICSA Meeting, which is the kick off to the Spring College Sailing National Championships, hosted by Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va.
 
Kevin Coakley (Duxbury, Mass.) was recognized with the James Rousmaniere Award for student leadership; Gary Bodie (Hampton, Va.) was honored with the Lifetime Service Award; Mitch Brindley (Smithfield, Va.) was awarded the Graham Hall Award for outstanding service by a college sailing professional; and Abby Reeg (Spring Lake, Mich.) was awarded Outstanding Service by a volunteer.




The Intercollegiate Sailing Association’s (ICSA) three spring national championships, Sperry College Sailing Women’s National Semifinal and Final Championships, LaserPerformance College Sailing Team Race National Championship, and the Gill College Sailing National Semifinal and Final Championships commence in one week on Tuesday, May 22. The Women’s event will last for four days immediately followed by the Team Race championship on May 26, lasting for three days and the Coed championship on May 29, lasting for four days.

The three events will be hosted by Old Dominion University at the ODU Sailing Center in Norfolk, Va. These championships are the culmination of two seasons of intense competition and include the top schools from across the nation vying for the championship titles. Immediately following the racing for each of the regattas there will be a trophy ceremony honoring the top finishers.

#3 Boston College won the US Coast Guard Alumni Bowl/ NEISA Coed Championship last weekend, hosted by Brown University, defeating the field in New England by an 18 point margit. 11 of the 18 teams featured are currently ranked in the top 20 which made for a showdown as the top 8 finishers move on to Gill College Sailing National Coed Semi-Final Regatta held May 29-30 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.
