Florida State University skipper Mateo Rodriguez (Sr., Winter Haven, FL) and crew Avery Harris (So., DeLand, FL) are the SAISA Open Sailors of the Week after leading the Seminoles to a victory at the Eckerd Interconference Regatta this past weekend, as well as posting the low score for the regatta, winning A-Division with a scoreline nearly half of the second place Princeton Tigers. Out of 16 races across two days, Rodriguez and Harris earned 9 bullets, 6 second-place finishes and no finishes worse than 4th on the weekend. Across the peninsula in Daytona Beach at the SAISA South Spring Tournament for the Gregg Popp Trophy hosted by Embry Riddle, Jacksonville women's skipper Ella DesChamps (So., Wilmington, NC) and crew Payton Ruth (Fr., South Bend, IN) earned SAISA Women's Sailors of the Week honors after winning B-Division and helping the Fins secure second overall in the regatta. DesChamps and Ruth started the event with three bullets, undefeated in the first rotation and earned podium finishes in two of the final three races and no finish worse than 4th for the event.
