The New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) is proud to name Charlie Enright and Mark Towill, Amanda Callahan, and Betsy Alison to the NEISA Honor Roll.
Charlie Enright (Brown '08) and Mark Towill (Brown '11) have been named to the NEISA Honor Roll for the second time (2015) after winning the iconic Ocean Race (formerly the Volvo Ocean Race) in 2023, Enright was the skipper of 11th Hour Racing and Towill the CEO of the team. This was their third campaign together in this fully crewed race around the world, sailed in IMOCA 60's this time around. They were also recognized as the Rolex World Team of the Year in 2023. Enright graduated from Brown University in 2008 and was a four-time Honorable Mention All-American Skipper, team Captain, and led the Bears to multiple New England and Atlantic Coast Championships. Towill graduated from Brown in 2011 and led the Bears to a 3rd place finish at the inaugural ICSA Match Race National Championship in 2010 as skipper.
Head Coach of the Roger Williams University sailing team, Amanda Callahan, is no stranger to success. She has recently added representing the USA at the 2023 PanAm Games in the Sunfish to her extensive resume. Callahan was selected to represent her country following her commanding win at the Sunfish Pan American Games United States Qualifier in July. Callahan won eight of the eleven races sailed and never finished outside of second. Callahan just wrapped up the 2023 Sunfish Worlds last week, finishing 14th and top female.
The five-time Rolex Yachtswomen of the Year and Tufts University Alumna, Betsy Alison, has been named to the NEISA Hall of Fame with yet another World Championship, this time claiming gold at the 2023 Allianz Sailing World Championship. Alison, who competed in the Women’s Hansa 303, was just one point ahead of second going into the final race, and went on to win the race and the event. Alison’s was an Honorable Mention All American in 1981.
